The short version

  • Cancel before work starts, and payments for work not yet performed may be refunded, less any non-refundable costs agreed in advance.
  • After work starts, refunds are based on the work completed, milestones and expenses. Prepaid work not yet delivered may be partly refunded.
  • Completed, delivered work is generally non-refundable, unless the law requires otherwise or it doesn't meet the agreed terms.
  • Approved refunds go back to your original payment method.

Before work begins

You can ask to cancel at any time before work on your project starts. Payments for work that hasn't been performed may be eligible for a refund, less any non-refundable expenses that were clearly disclosed to you and agreed in advance, such as a licence or domain bought for your project at your request.

Online deposit
Paying the deposit reserves your place in line. It doesn't mean work has started, so until it does, the deposit is covered by this section.
Priority line upgrade
Treated the same way as any other payment for work not yet performed.
When work begins
When we take your project out of the line and start on it. Your project chat shows “In progress” from that point.

After work begins

Once a project has started, a refund request is evaluated based on the work completed, the project milestones and the expenses already incurred. You may be eligible for a partial refund of prepaid amounts for services that haven't been delivered yet.

When we review a request, we look at:

  • Work completed. What has been designed, built or delivered so far.
  • Milestones. The milestones in your proposal, and which have been reached or approved.
  • Expenses. Agreed costs already paid on your behalf.

Completed projects

Once the agreed project has been completed and delivered, payments for the completed work are generally non-refundable, except where applicable law requires a refund or where the delivered work doesn't meet the agreed project terms. If something isn't right, tell us, and we'll work with you to put it right.

Revisions

Your project includes the number of revision rounds set out in your approved proposal (see Project Terms & Payments). Additional revisions, or changes outside the original scope, may require additional payment. That work is always quoted and approved by you in writing before it is done.

How to cancel

Contact us in your project chat on this website, by phone, by email or through the contact form. We review the work completed, any outstanding milestones and any eligible refund, and confirm the outcome with you before the cancellation is final.

Refund processing

Approved refunds are generally issued to the original payment method. Processing times depend on the payment provider and your bank or card issuer; card refunds usually appear within 5 to 10 business days of being issued.

Your proposal and your rights

Your written proposal may set out project-specific terms, such as expenses that can't be refunded. Those terms apply alongside this policy. Nothing in this policy, or in a proposal, limits the rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws.
